30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin and the Swiss Re Building is a blue coloured, glass, missile shaped office tower located on the site of the old Baltic Exchange, the former headquarters for world shipping sales that was severely damaged by an IRA bomb in 1992 in London's main financial district, the City of London, completed in December 2003 and opened on 28 April 2004. The Gherkin is London’s sixth biggest building at 180 metres (591 ft) with 40 floors. The Gherkin is situated Bishopsgate, between Liverpool Street and Monument stations, was designed by Lord Foster, his then business partner Ken Shuttleworth, and Arup engineers, and was constructed by Skanska of Sweden
The Tower of London (Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress) is located on the north bank of the River Thames opposite London City Hall and HMS Belfast in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, at the eastern edge of the City of London financial district, adjacent to Tower Bridge. The Tower of London is often identified with the White Tower, the original stark square fortress built by William the Conqueror in 1078. Since 1303, the Tower has been the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.
