Pateley Bridge is a small market town and old lead mining village set around a steep hill in Nidderdale in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, and the main crossing place on the River Nidd. Nearby attractions include How Stean Gorge (A ravine with a dramatic limestone cleft which is 80 feet deep in places often called Yorkshire's Little Switzerland) at Lofthouse, Stump Cross Caverns (near Greenhow Hill on the moors between Nidderdale and Wharfedale) and Brimham Rocks (a series of fantastically shaped weathered rocks near Summerbridge). A special plaque in Pateley Bridge High street marks the start and finish of the Nidderdale Way, a circular route of some 53 miles that loops around each side of the Nidd Valley. The last Dales agricultural show of the year, the Nidderdale Show, is held annually on the showground by the River Nidd.
