Nerja is a town in the province of Malaga, which lies in one of Spain's 17 autonomous regions, Andalucia, on the Costa del Sol which is on the country's southern, Mediterranean coast. Nerja lies about 50 km east of the city of Málaga, on the N340 coastal highway, and marks the eastern tip of Málaga's Costa del Sol. Torrecilla beach, Nerja is located at the bottom of the Town centre (Calle Malaga, Calle Castillo Perez and Calle Chaparil all take you down there). The new promenade makes a nice walk along to Playazo beach, and now extends East past the plaza de la cangrejo.
